DPT 712: Medical Physiology and Diseases

This course provides an introduction to Human Physiology and basic principles in the study of Human Disease. The course is concerned with the foundational elements of structure, function, and pathological processes. Emphasis is placed on histology and general cellular physiology with an overview of pathological processes at the cellular and molecular level; neurophysiology; muscle physiology, and skeletal and connective tissue. In addition, there will be an introduction to general organ system human physiology and organ system and multisystem pathologies; emphasis is placed on cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, endocrine, and gastrointestinal systems and on diseases that occur in patients that are often treated by the physical therapist.
