This course provides an overview of the profession of counseling, including professional identity, roles, and functions of counselors across specialty areas, the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, and ethical decision-making models. In addition, students will learn about professional organizations, certification, and licensure. The course will also cover professional liability, risk management, and managed care service environments.
