This course provides an in-depth introduction to the theory, practice, and application of Equine-Assisted Interventions (EAI) and models used across therapeutic settings to include: Hippotherapy, Adaptive Riding, Equine Assisted Learning, Adapted Equestrian Sports, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Students will explore how interactions with horses can support physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. Theoretical support for Equine Assisted Interventions will be discussed. Students will gain a foundational understanding of how equine-assisted interventions can be implemented in therapeutic, educational, and personal development programs—three semester hours.
