CMHC 670: Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

This course provides an introduction to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), based primarily on the use of the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) model. Equine Assisted psychotherapeutic interventions will be demonstrated and practiced within the course. Students will learn the history of horses as therapy animals, how to develop and implement activities that are appropriate for the client and the horse, and will understand goals and outcomes of EAP sessions—three semester hours.
